01 0.00 miles SE 944 327 From the 'layby' head west along the stone track road that leads to Swinescaife Quarry, known as Swinescaife Road for about ½ a mile to a path on the right that descends to a gate and Yorkshire Wolds Way sign.
02 0.5 miles SE 941 325 At the Yorkshire Wolds Way sign turn right, descend down Comber Dale to a fingerpost sign ‘Yorkshire Wolds Way’. Continue beyond the sign to follow a path to the right to a ladder stile and gate.
03 0.75 mile SE 937 330 Pass through and follow the path ahead (slightly offset to the right) along Weedley Dale at the end of the dale, pass through a gate, the track turns immediately right then left and enters West Hill Plantation. Continue for about ½ a mile to a fork in the track.
04 2.0 miles SE 942 339 At the fork junction, take the left fork make a steady ascent through East Dale. The track then turns left, then right to follow the hedgerow to where it meets the B1230.
05 2.85 miles SE 926 333 At the B1230 turn left, follow the busy B1230 for about 700 yards taking the 2nd footpath on the left. (Ignore the first sign with an orange cone on the farm gate).
06 3.25 miles SE 937 349 Follow the path along the hedge row to the boundary fence of Austin’s Dale. (Sadly due to the fence there is no access to St Austin’s Stone). The Track bears right following the fence along the tree line. Continue to a fingerpost signed ‘Public Footpath’.
07 4.0 miles SE 926 338 At the fingerpost turn left, cross the pasture to the fence, the path bears left, follow the path to a ladder stile on the right. The path bears left along the woodline to a tarmac track.
08 4.5 miles SE 925 336 At the tarmac track turn left, passed the pond to a T-Junction, turn left, follow the track road for about a ¼ of a mile to a fork in the track.
09 5.0 miles SE 300 333 Take the right fork along the treeline, the path bears right over the railway bridge then turns left, follow the bridleway to the fingerpost at the bottom of Comber Dale.
10 5.5 miles SE 936 330 At the finger post turn right and ascend the path through Comber Dale, pass through the metal gate, then turn left on the stone track road to follow Swinescaife Hill Road back to the car park layby.
